Children with autism often inherent fear of what awaits for them next. They don’t always understand what they should do, what people want from them, what people tell them. It is very difficult to explain everything with words to such children. That’s why in our kindergarten we have a clear timetable with a photo of the child and his/her name.
Before each class teacher with the child first go to this board. There are many pictographs that depict a particular activity or regime moment on it. The child gets pre-acquainted with pictographs and gets used to them. And then before each class teacher or tutor takes the child to the timetable, pronounces the following lesson, showing him/her the corresponding pictograph and stick it with the glue on the board with the child’s hands.
This structuring, specifics and visualization help our children to overcome the fear of what they do not know, what people want from them and where they are being led.
